Choosing a Pet

Pets can add a lot of joy to a family but they also require a commitment to provide care, food and shelter. Some animals may not be suitable for a household with children under the age of five. In addition, many pets need more frequent veterinary visits than others and can be expensive.

The type of pet you choose will depend on your lifestyle. For example, a dog will need to be walked daily and be let outside a few times a day to do their business. If you work long hours or have a busy social life, a cat or other independent animal may be a better fit.

Regardless of the type of pet you choose, it’s important to get adequate health coverage. Most insurance providers offer a range of plans including accident-only, illness and routine care. Ask your insurance provider about what’s included in each plan and how premiums are affected by claims. Also, find out if your insurer has a maximum limit per policy year — once you reach this amount, new conditions will not be covered for the remainder of the term.

PET is a semicrystalline thermoplastic polyester (commonly written as Polyester) that’s used to make crystal-clear beverage bottles and other products. It’s a strong and durable material that blocks CO2 and light, repels microorganisms and can undergo HPP (high-pressure processing) — a heat free form of pasteurisation. There are several myths about PET, but it’s a safe material approved by the FDA and other governing agencies for use in food and drink packaging.
