How to Photograph a Cat

The cat (Felis domestica) is a feline of the family Felidae, native to many parts of the world. It is a solitary predator that tends to be more independent than dogs. It is a highly adaptable species that has evolved with the ability to hunt, stalk and pounce prey in the dark. It can also hide, climb and jump very quickly.

In the wild, a cat’s natural instinct is to avoid detection by hiding tracks and scent markings. As a result, they often bury their waste and food to avoid being discovered by predators. This behavior may explain why their litter boxes can be so messy. It also explains why their ancestors didn’t want to share their territory with other cats.

A cat has an extra organ that allows it to taste scents in the air. They can also make more than 100 sounds, including the purr which they sometimes use to heal themselves.

If you want to take a photo of a cat, it’s best not to get too close because they can be suspicious of humans. Instead, approach them gradually and let them get used to you by feeding them, playing with them and letting them come to you for photos.

If you do have to photograph a cat close up, a medium shot is usually better as it includes more of the environment. You should also pay attention to the lighting. Avoid using flashes because they can irritate a cat and make it run away. Instead, try to use a low aperture value, slow shutter speed and increase the ISO value.
